This Privacy Policy applies to the
WiseReviews ‑ Shopify Reviews Importer Chrome extension, published on the
Chrome Web Store. The extension has a single purpose: to read the product reviews that are already publicly
displayed on a marketplace product page you are viewing (Shopee, Amazon, Shein, or Temu) and send them to
your WiseReviews account so they can be imported into your Shopify store. It is a companion to
the WiseReviews Shopify app and is not usable on its own.
Information the Extension Handles
The extension only handles data when you click the Import reviews button in its popup.
It handles:
Your extension app key: A key generated inside the WiseReviews Shopify
app that you paste into the extension. It identifies which store the imported reviews belong to.
Your import settings and selected product: The Shopify product you chose to import
into, and options such as skipping already imported reviews or limiting the number of reviews.
Publicly displayed review content from the page you are on: Reviewer display name
and avatar image URL, star rating, review date, review title and text, helpful count, and the URLs
of review photos and videos, together with the URL of the product page itself.
Your Shopify product list: When you open the product picker, the extension requests
your product titles, handles, and images from WiseReviews so you can choose an import
target.
The extension does not collect your browsing history, keystrokes, form input, passwords,
authentication credentials, financial or payment information, health information, personal
communications, location data, or any personally identifiable information about you beyond the app key
described above. It does not read pages other than supported marketplace product pages, and only at the
moment you ask it to import.
How the Information Is Used
Extracted reviews and your app key are sent over an encrypted HTTPS connection to the
WiseReviews API, where the reviews are saved against the Shopify product you selected.
Review photos and videos are downloaded from the URLs found on the page and stored so they can be
displayed in your storefront review widgets.
The app key is used solely to authenticate the request and identify your store. It is never used for
profiling or advertising.
The extension contains no analytics, no advertising or tracking code, and no third-party scripts. It does
not create a user profile and does not track you across websites.
Permissions and Why We Need Them
storage: Saves your app key, selected product, and import settings locally in your
browser so you do not have to re-enter them each time.
scripting: Runs the review extraction script on the marketplace product page, and
only after you click Import reviews.
Host permissions (access to websites): Marketplace review pages live on many
regional domains (for example country-specific Amazon and Shopee sites), so broad host access is
requested. In practice the extension only acts on pages it recognises as supported Shopee, Amazon,
Shein, and Temu product pages, and only when you trigger an import. No script runs in the background
or on other sites.
Data Sharing & Limited Use
We do not sell, rent, or transfer data obtained through the extension to third parties, and we do not use
it for advertising, credit assessment, or any purpose unrelated to importing reviews into your store.
Data is shared only with the service providers that operate WiseReviews (cloud hosting and
media storage), or where required by law.
Our use of information received from the extension adheres to the
Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use
requirements.
Storage, Retention & Deletion
Your app key, selected product, and import settings are stored locally in your browser using Chrome's
extension storage. They never leave your device except as part of an import request, and they are
removed when you remove the extension or clear its data.
Reviews you import are stored in your WiseReviews account and are governed by the
WiseReviews Privacy Policy, including its
retention and deletion terms. You can delete imported reviews at any time from within the
WiseReviews Shopify app. You can also revoke access at any time by regenerating your
extension app key in the app, which immediately invalidates the old key.
